That screen looks suspiciously like a Nokia home screen, is that what these handsets are really using at their core? Can anyone confirm this for sure?

100% That is the Nokia S40 interface that all Vertus use. The new S40 supports 3g, 3 megapixel cameras and Multi-Tasking.
