Four versions of Moto's RAZR 2 compared

With the Motorola
RAZR 2 set to
drop on Sprint next week as the V9m, the handset will then be released on Verizon Wireless in September. No solid word on AT&T's official release date with the V9, though. How about Alltel? You'll see the V9m with them too, apparently (not sure when). Until then, PC Magazine has reviewed the plethora of differences between the RAZR 2 when it comes to these four carriers (T-Mobile to come later with the EDGE-only V8, according to reports). The review breaks down the per-carrier deets, mentioning that T-Mobile's version will run Linux while the other versions will use Moto's Synergy software platform. The phone books and web browsers are different on the CDMA variants, as well as the overall UI being starkly different on each one. Want CrystalTalk background noise suppression? I was looking very forward to getting this phone for months since I own the Sprint A-900 which is also referred to as The Blade. Although it is similar in appearance, it is not similar in features. As stated in my Cons, the phone does not remind you that you have a voicemail. If you missed the original voicemail alert, you are screwed. You will have to continue to open up the phone if you are expecting a call/message. There is no blinking light or a beep reminding you to check your voicemail!! Also, there is NO FLASH on the camera which makes taking pictures that require extra light pointless. Also there is no Service Light letting you know that you are within the service range.
To summarize, also this phone is pretty on the outside, its lake of needful and practical features out ways the beauty of it. I wound up returning the phone back to the Sprint store 3 days later. I hope that by me contributing here helps others make a more informed decision on whether or not to purchase this phone.

Cingular's V3xx doesn't "sync" with WMP10/11 as a MTP device. But it does indeed sync it. It synced as a UMS device. I have an MTP device (iRiver Clix) and there is no difference in the syncing method. This means the razr2 will read any mp3 on the phone. you don't need windows media player to transfer it (unlike MTP devices). I can download an MP3 off a website off my phone and it'll store it, no problem. MTP = Microsoft Technology. Expect problems if you want to use it with Mac or Linux.

As typical with Motorola, they can NEVER manage to deliver an entire package deal. You always have to be missing something. If you want EVDO or HSDPA, you get to use their crappy software. If you want to use the new Linux based OS, you only get EDGE. I really don't understand what's so damn hard about coming out with everything in one phone. If they could only do that, they would make an absolutely killer phone.

I just got a V3xx in July....Interesting comparison between the two AT&T models. The only difference I see is price..about 300.00. Although I do want to see Moto and the Razr2 to succeed, I really like the look of them. Moto phones are the only phones I have bought. It needs to be mentioned that people claim that areas with ATT 3G have significant better call quality than areas that dont. I dont have 3G yet in minneapolis, but am really looking forward to it.

this phone is way different than your v3xx...quadband vs tri-band, huge external lcd, 2mp camera and more internal memory. still think your v3xx is up to par with the v9? and i haven't even mentioned CrystalTalk yet...

If the price is low, and it's just like the v3xx: If it allows you to play 320x240 wmv/mp4 I'll get one. My v3xx only allows 176x144 even though it's a 320x240 screen. that and v3xx doesn't support 320kbps mp3s
