Motorola quietly announces CDMA SLVR L7c
Alright, Sprint users: who's pumped to land a SLVR of your own? Show of hands, please. How about you Verizon folks? The handful of you with your arms raised high right now, bursting at the seams with anticipation for Moto's rumored CDMA port of the L7, don't have much longer to wait. Buried in with the goodness that Motorola dropped on us Monday was the official news that the L7c is indeed a real device -- though beyond the fact that it rocks EV-DO, we aren't given much to go by. Exact dates, carriers, thickness -- you know, the important details -- all remain mysteries, though Sprint and/or Verizon will clearly be getting the device, and some duration of exclusivity seems to be a logical assumption. The SLVR's GSM variants haven't managed to rock many boats, but decently-equipped candybars are a slightly rarer breed on US CDMA networks, so we can imagine some level of excitement here. Motorola Q-style pandemonium, probably not, but excitement nonetheless.[Via Mobile Guerilla, thanks Brian]

If you read the release, Moto reveals that the L7c uses the BREW platform found on Verizon and Alltel phones, not J2ME, which Sprint uses. Verdict: headed to Verizon.

SCRW the SLVR! buttons are too small and i believe it still has a vga camera! wat gain is there over the current v3m? and im sure there gonna throw the thing up there at like 300$

where does it say brew? IT DOESN'T! Here is a copy and paste from the press release about the L7c. btw, i did a word find in opera and the word brew is not anywhere in that page at all.

It's well known that Verizon seems to always snatch up the exclusivity deals over Sprint when it comes to phones on CDMA.
The SLVR would compliment VZW's line-up, displayed next to the Q.

Actually, a couple months ago, PCSIntel reported that Sprint has taken the L7c with release dates pending. I'm guessing that if these phones are going to make release this year, they're going to hit the X-mas season.

I really need to get out of my sprint contract at the end of this year, I actually like their service, I've never needed to make a call and had no signal but their phone choice is just horrible. Probably 80% of their selection are phones that look almost identical. That same old 1lb flip phone.

I work for sasktel, a small province-wide cellular company in canada, and lets just say this phone would be a blessing to be added to our collection. Our best phones are the RAZR V3c and the Samsung A920...

You are so right about Sprint's phone selection. Just terrible!!! There is nothing exciting or sexy about Sprint phones. The service is good and the price is fine, but the phone selection is bland. Plus there are no good incentives to trade up.

Sprint is also moving to BREW. They'll be there by the fall/winter timeframe. And Sprint will be getting a SLVR variant.

I figure that no one will believe me, but the SLVR is on the Sprint release schedule for November 2006. With an upgraded camera and some other new/updated features. I am excited to have a phone like this in the Sprint lineup, but worry about the street price.

What I want to know, Engadget Mobile, is what's up wtih the Sony Ericsson K790a. On the sony site, the * indicating "coming soon" has been REMOVED! This is huge! I've been waiting for this phone to come out forever. What's the deal?

The RAZR XX looks just like the RAZR, but sports HSDPA and goodies like a QVGA screen. It joins the RAZR MAXX in Moto's just announced 3G lineup.

Sprint is moving to BREW for the UI-One or MI-UI user interface ONLY. Sprint will continue to support J2ME.
MI-UI will allow interface "themes". BREW will allow them to be locked down and secure.
CEBU currently has the L7c on its' release schedule for November 06.

I just bought the MotoSLVR, and I love it. Yes, it did go to verizon, I hjave the evidence, and it is a pretty good phone, but with a big pricetag. Mine set me back $300!!! Very eye opening and cool, though, good for teens!!!
